January 2007 News to Members Ensuring Nonprofit Integrity and Accountability Workshop Co-sponsored by CAN, Silicon Valley Council of Nonprofits (SVCN), and the Center for Excellence in Nonprofits (CEN) SVCN recommends all our agencies to attend this workshop. This workshop is intended for Executives, Finance Manager and Board Members on February 7th from 8:30 to 2pm. Successful nonprofits make integrity the centerpiece of their culture, practices and behaviors, because they know that a good reputation is a valuable asset. Join with your peers to learn how to implement practices to ensure positive public perception of your nonprofit, and discover why and how your board should participate in ensuring your nonprofit’s integrity. With the help of an accountability checklist, you’ll walk away from this workshop with a clear picture of your organization’s strengths and weaknesses, plus proven solutions for eliminating the weaknesses. The workshop features Keynote Speaker Jerry Silva, Auditor for the City of San Jose. Mr. Silva, author of a city report on nonprofit reporting and grant oversight, will address nonprofit integrity through the eyes of government. To register for Ensuring Nonprofit Integrity and Accountability go to www.canonprofits.org for online registration. As a member of CAN, SVCN or CEN the rate for the event is only $40.
