Workshops of Interest
CEN is recruiting participants for its
Executive Director Roundtables for people of color. Roundtables
provide a safe, confidential environment for nonprofit ED’s to
exchange ideas, opinions and resources, help each other solve
problems, and network with other Executive Directors in your
community. This program is a 6-month series of meetings over
lunch where executives discuss leadership challenges, nonprofit
sector trends, and what is going on in their own organizations.
Agendas are developed based upon the group's interests prior to
each meeting.
The cost is $200 for 6 months, including lunch and facilitation.
Participants must be CEN members – that cost varies dependent on
organizational budget size. For further information, see
www.cen.org. To register for the Roundtable, go to
www.cen.org. Contact Loretta Gallegos,
loretta@cen.org or 408-945-4505 for further information.

Budget
Hearings
The budget reduction
target of $238 million will be discussed at all the hearings
listed below. We strongly encourage your presence at these

budget.
City of San Jose
HNVF
We thank the City for agreeing to make the modifications

Community Center Re-Use
The City Council will hear a report on Re-Use at their June 11th
meeting. The City has a three-year strategy to restore community
center staff resources lost in the past five years. PRNS budget
proposal will allow for continued operations of re-use sites
that focus on the system's strengths: continued service in high
demand areas and partnerships to leverage outside resources.
Restoring community centers to full staffing levels will take
multiple years and a consistently healthy economy. It will
also require the ability of new and expanded facilities to take
full advantage of their physical resources to accommodate
programs that generate revenue, successful partnerships, and
ensures access for all
San José
residents. SVCN will continue to keep on top of this issue
Update on meeting with MAYOR REED
SVCN recently met with Mayor Reed to update him on the nonprofit
issues related to contracts with the city and he is interested
in working with us to ensure prompt payment for our nonprofit
contractors. We also thanked Mayor Reed for his support to
exempt nonprofits from the City Lobbying Ordinance and his
support and advocacy on Exhibit F.
