Position Summary: The Director of Development will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising strategy to secure financial support from various sources. Reporting to the Executive Director, the role involves building and maintaining donors relationships, writing grant proposals, and planning fundraising campaigns/annual fundraising event. This position will collaborate with the Director of Policy and Communications in the implementation of Communications work plan for the organization. The Director of Development should have demonstrated experience in fundraising from foundations, government agencies, and/or major donors. We prefer candidates with advanced knowledge of fundraising and with experience in a nonprofit environment. The position works directly with the leadership team and it is important that the candidate be able to communicate our work to different audiences. We are looking for a Director of Development who is passionate about the work of Grail Family Services, and is effective at telling our story to potential funders and other audiences. In addition, the candidate will collaborate with the members of the Si Se Puede Collective (SSPC) supporting communication and fundraising activities implemented by the SSPC partners. Responsibilities: - Developing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising strategy to secure financial support from individual donors, foundations, corporations, and government grants. - Building and maintaining relationships with current donors and identifying new potential supporters. This involves regular communication, donor appreciation, and recognition efforts. - Writing and submitting grant proposals to secure funding from foundations and government agencies. This includes researching grant opportunities, preparing budgets and ensuring compliance with grant requirements. - Cultivating relationships with major donors and high-net-worth individuals to secure significant financial support for the organization. - Planning and executing annual fundraising campaigns, including direct mail, online giving and annual fundraising event. - Ensuring that donors’ contributions are used effectively and transparently and providing reports on how funds are being utilized. - Collaborating with the organization’s leadership to create an annual budget, including revenue projections from fundraising efforts. - Engaging and educating the board of directors in fundraising efforts and ensuring that they are active in supporting the organizations’ development goals. - Using data and analytics to evaluate the effectiveness of fundraising strategies and making adjustments as necessary. - Ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations governing non-profit fundraising and financial reporting. - Representing the organization at community events, networking and establishing partnerships with other organizations. Required Qualifications: - BA degree in related field and/or equivalent experience and training, MA degree preferred. - Expertise in using marketing and communication tools to get exposure to potential funders. - Proven success fundraising at a nonprofit - Advanced skills to meet or exceed fundraising goals and objectives and proven success in fundraising. - Very strong skill in maintaining confidentiality. - Past experience working for or with government agencies. - At least two years of project management and staff supervision experience desired. - Ability to relate well to people from diverse backgrounds. - Strong time management and organizational skills with a commitment to quality services. - Strategic thinking and creative problem solving abilities. - Proficiency in computer software including but not limited to: Salesforce, MS Office, Outlook and Salesforce. - Excellent written and oral skills in the English language. - Must have a valid California Driver’s license, insurance, and reliable transportation. Compensation and Benefits: Full time, exempt position must be willing to work some evenings and/or weekends Salary: $110,000 to $120,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. Full-time schedule (about 40-hours/week); with some evenings and/or weekend hours required. Medical, vision and dental insurance, valued at over $6,000 per year, no employee shared cost. First year: 10 vacation days and 11 paid holidays with accrual based on 40 hrs. per week Generous sick leave policy: 8 hours per month with accrual based on 40 hrs. per week Eligible for 2 floating holidays per year after satisfying eligibility requirements 401(k) Retirement Plan, with 5% employer match contribution This position reports to the Executive Director Childcare Assistance available after 90 days of employment, pending eligibility and availability.
