Program Overview
The SVCN Ethnic Leadership Program will be an intensive training and peer learning program for Executive Directors and their Mid Managers. This will consist of peer learning, training and consulting to strengthen the capacity of your organization or executive leadership skills as an integral part of this program.
12 health and human services agency Executive Directors and/or senior leaders will be selected. The program will last 12-14 months including monthly meetings, training or work with leadership consultants.
The monthly meetings will promote leadership development, coaching and support. We will augment these sessions with a minimum of four‐six basic trainings that include, organizational and leadership skill building such as board development and recruitment, long term fundraising strategies, communications strategies and public policy/advocacy.
Parallel with support for the Executive leadership, we will facilitate peer learning circles for middle managers as well, building the capacity of the whole organization. Our goal is to augment and strengthen the Executive Director leadership by including senior/middle managers in this program. Therefore a parallel track will include peer learning circles for senior/ middle managers for those Executive Directors chosen for this program. This group of managers who have the capacity to take on more responsibility and want to build their nonprofit management/leadership skill‐set will meet 4 times, once with the whole group and 3 additional times during the year.
Each participant will receive mini-grants or technical assistance valued up to $2,500. This technical assistance can be utilized a consultant or attend enrichment programs approved by SVCN. For example, organizations can choose to receive technical assistance in financial management or an Executive could hire a coach for specific skill building. We will also coordinate with local technical support groups to provide one on one resources to maximize our work with these agencies. SVCN will have a list of culturally competent resources available.
