The Mosaic Journalism Program is seeking an experienced and resourceful interim executive director who will lead a team in mapping out plans to deepen and expand our Mosaic Vision program. The mission of Mosaic is to teach journalism to students in underserved communities and to diversify the pipeline of young journalists to the nation’s newsrooms. After running 28 successful summer programs, Mosaic is entering an exciting phase of growth, with the potential to spread its model, nurture journalism education, partner with schools, and work toward providing local news coverage in “news deserts.”
This is a half-time six-month position beginning in January, with the potential to continue in a full-time role.
The objectives of this role are:
Design a strategy for improving, expanding and replicating the current program, which teaches reporting, photography, digital skills and media literacy.
Develop a long-term plan for support and growth.
Identify partners at high schools, in universities and in media to support our students and the program.
Work with our fundraisers in approaching potential donors and securing funding for an expanded program.

Oversee hiring of staff to teach and alumni to work as editorial assistants.
Work with our media partners to arrange in-kind support from their employees and to coordinate print production.
Work with our university or school partner to arrange hosting the program.
