Racial Equity Approach / Expertise
I am a sole proprietor, but have worked over the years to be a strong ally and to learn as much as I can about the experiences of our community's diverse residents so that I can incorporate the realities of these experiences in the work that I do, whether it is a project, a plan, or a strategy. I have practiced this work through several groups, including the American Leadership Forum DIEL cohort.
In my experience, cultural competency is a lifelong journey. Every day I need to practice listening, hearing, understanding, and being curious about people who I interact with who have different backgrounds, cultures, perspectives, and beliefs. This also requires reading and learning, and working with others to be better and learn from mistakes.
