About

ALF Insights (ALFI) is committed to bringing groups of people together in spaces of productive tension in order to build deeper relationships that lead to the creation of powerful community impact. As an experienced convener of cross sector leaders, ALFI has the ability to emerge new frameworks for how an organization manages change and embraces dynamic processes that use tension as a vehicle to bring your work to the next level.

ALF Insights (ALFI) knows, through its many years of working with diverse groups, that the creation and maintenance of relationships is critical for the success of any working group. The ability for members to authentically share their personal and professional value propositions, take risks and to seek common ground, is inherently connected to the quality of relationships within the team. Our goal is to design a highly personalized program that will move both relationships and impact forward. It is important to note that generative social-impact groups are a picture of evolving social relationships AND a robust platform for sustained production and impact. The process of learning, creating, implementing, evaluating and iterating should become a cultural norm for an organization or network. When this process is built into the day to day ethos of an organization, it allows for growth, flexibility, nimbleness and responsiveness to the needs of employees, those served and the larger community.
Our Vision: We envision a community of served clients that have become impactful leaders through their ability to foster:
- Emotionally intelligent leadership that creates high functioning organizational culture
- Quality decision making processes that leads to better results and outcomes
- Clear, strategic thinking that brings forth innovative service models
- Productive dialogues that support organizational strategy and innovation

Our Mission: ALFI creates spaces of productive tension that maximize growth, mitigate harm and leverage the development of strategic opportunities.

Our Values
- Belonging and Relationships: We seek to curate spaces that promote inclusion, intentionality, empathy  and grace.
- Tension and Growth: We embrace tension as a leverage point for interpersonal and strategic growth. We foster learning environments that support progress over perfection and celebrate learning through curiosity.
- Innovation & Impact: We seek to provide clear processes that spark innovation and move forward an organization’s strategic goals.

Racial Equity Approach / Expertise

In the region that has been a leader in promoting the idea of meritocracy, it is especially important for ALF Insights to recognize the historic and current systems of inequity and to engage the power of our network to dismantle these systems and promote equity through the leadership and collaboration of Senior Fellows and partnerships with others in our organizations and communities. ALF Insights recognizes that the social contract with communities of color has never been fulfilled. As an organization that is a “leader of leaders,” we commit to challenging ourselves, our network and our community to do the ongoing hard work of recognizing power dynamics and structures, blind spots and biases that perpetuate systemic racism and inequities. Using ALFI strategies and leveraging the power of the ALF network, we will work to remedy the impact within our own organization and the community, throughout the programs we offer and in communities we serve. Along with developing the team’s ability to have productive dialogue, ALFI centers in this work a lens of race equity through an examination of power and education on root cause analysis. ALFI works intentionally with groups to understand the dynamics of oppression and white supremacy culture and relate that to their internal as well as their external work. This happens through the use of dialogue coupled with various readings, teachings, and exercises. This is not a teaching seminar but a highly participative process of layering historical and current contextual nuances on the thread of authentic dialogue, lived experience and purposeful learning moments. Please see question three for more information on specific teaching tools and processes. Lastly, ALFI understands that collective work and shared power models produce high rewards and have equally challenging lows. ALFI works from an orientation of trauma-informed leadership that centers relationships in order to prioritize the alignment of hearts, minds and personal lived experience. ALFI works with groups to engage in appropriate levels of vulnerability and to develop a culture of committing to courageous conversations with each other in order to move goals from vision to reality.
