About
As a former Executive Director, I'm on a mission to ensure nonprofit leaders don't have to navigate the isolation, overwhelm, and burnout that I experienced during my ten-year tenure leading Green Foothills—where, despite protecting 7,400 acres of open space and achieving significant milestones, I often felt profoundly alone at the top.
Here's what nobody tells you about being an Executive Director: there's no one you can be fully open with. You can't share everything with donors—they need to see confidence. You can't burden your board—they have governance responsibilities, and sometimes they're part of the challenge. You can't confide completely in staff—they need strong leadership, and sometimes the issue involves them. Other EDs understand, but they're carrying their own weight. Family and friends don't quite grasp the complexity. So you carry it alone.
That isolation is why talented leaders burn out and leave before they become truly exceptional. That's why I launched my consulting and coaching practice in 2023—to be the support system I desperately needed.
I bring 20+ years of nonprofit leadership experience, certified coaching expertise, and deep understanding of governance, fundraising, strategic planning, coalition building, advocacy, program development, tribal collaboration, and human resources. My approach combines the big-picture thinking leaders need with meticulous attention to detail and hands-on support.
My services include:
- Executive Consulting & Thought Partnership: Strategic guidance and hands-on operational support to reduce your workload and increase your confidence
- Leadership Coaching: Transformative 6-12 month partnerships helping you overcome obstacles, clarify purpose, and align with your core values
- Positive Intelligence (PQ) Mental Fitness Training: Evidence-based techniques to identify and overcome mental blocks and negative thought patterns
- Strategic Facilitation & Retreats: Inclusive processes that create collaborative momentum and actionable strategic plans
- Fractional & Interim Leadership: Stability and continuity during transitions or growth periods
Whether you're a new leader finding your footing, a seasoned executive concerned about burnout, or an organization navigating change, I'm here as your ally and strategic partner. Together, we'll work on both organizational health and personal growth, making your leadership journey more effective, sustainable, and fulfilling.
Racial Equity Approach / Expertise
I work with leaders and organizations to create "brave spaces" where we can engage authentically across differences, using Micky ScottBey Jones' framework: "Because there is no such thing as a "safe space" ... We all carry scars and we have all caused wounds...We amplify voices that fight to be heard elsewhere, We call each other to more truth and love...It will not always be what we wish it to be but it will be our brave space together. And we will work on it side by side."
My approach honors the whole person, recognizing that leaders from historically excluded communities navigate additional layers of complexity including code-switching and systemic barriers alongside organizational challenges.

Because of Megan's leadership, the Foundation enters the coming years with strategic clarity, stronger board cohesion, and a powerful narrative for engaging donors and partners." —Kenneth Cooper, Executive Director, Las Positas College Foundation
"Her experienced and valuable input has included putting policies and procedures in place to ensure that we worked well together towards achieving our strategic goals and objectives. She helped hire our search firm and develop an onboarding plan for our permanent ED and was supportive throughout the process. I am unsure how TVC could have done better without Megan's experience and involvement." —Mark Triska, Board Chair, Tri-Valley Conservancy
"It can be lonely leading a nonprofit organization through significant restructuring, and Megan has been a partner and mentor in my work. With her support, we have completed an organizational assessment, implemented a project management system and updated the organization's policy and procedure handbook in just 6 months.
