Job Description
The Childcare Center Director for San Jose Women’s Programs is a key member of our team. Your leadership will ensure that children receive the support they need to thrive while empowering their mothers to pursue recovery, stability, and new life opportunities.
The Childcare Director will oversee the daily operations of our childcare facility, which includes: Infant Care (12 children) Preschool Care (8 children) Aftercare (14–20 children)
The Director will be responsible for ensuring a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for children, cultivating engaging relationships with parents, and maintaining full compliance with licensing regulations. We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Early Childhood Educator with a strong understanding of trauma-informed practices to support the developmental and emotional needs of children who have experienced trauma. The ideal candidate will create a safe, nurturing, and predictable learning environment that fosters trust, resilience, and healing.

The Childcare Director is a full-time, exempt position wrapped up in a Christian environment that values Teamwork, Accountability, Humility, Innovation, and Joy.
Essential Functions Responsibilities: Provide leadership to staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment. Train and supervise teachers and aides working in the childcare center. Manage program data collection, billing, fee collection, and reporting. Design and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities. Ensure that programs meet the developmental, emotional, and spiritual needs of children. Stay current with state licensing requirements and ensure the facility remains fully compliant. Prepare for and participate in inspections and audits by regulatory agencies. Organize parent meetings and community events to promote family involvement. Manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and intelligently delegate responsibilities. Ensure administrative and billing processes are efficient and effective. Requirements Physical Demands: Stand or sit for prolonged periods. Walk, bend, twist, crawl, and kneel. Talk, hear, and smell. Occasionally lift and move up to 40 pounds. Use hand and finger dexterity to feel, handle, and operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Ability to drive children and parents when necessary.
Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience. 12 units in Child Development, 3 units in Infant Care, and 3 units in Administration. Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience working with children. Current Childcare Center Director Permit (issued by California Community Care Licensing). Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds. Strong written communication skills; experience writing reports and/or policies. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Current CPR and First Aid certification. Valid CA Driver’s License with a clean driving record. Preferred Education and Experience
Bilingual language skills (English/Spanish, Vietnamese, or Cambodian). Work Conditions: This job operates in a professional office environment and a residential apartment setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Work hours may vary depending on program scheduling needs. Travel is primarily local during the business day. Additional Eligibility Qualifications for CityTeam Ministries
Must have an intimate, personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Must be active in a local Christian body of believers, or at least pursuing community with other Christ-followers. Must have compatible theology on major issues of CityTeam’s Statement of Faith. Must be committed to serving God and the body of Christ.
