Housing Coordinator, San Jose
Job Description
Housing Choices is URGENTLY hiring a full-time, hybrid Housing Coordinator to support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in Santa Clara County on their path to stable, independent living.
This position is hybrid (3 days in office / 2 days remote) with office days based at 20 Great Oaks, Suite 205 San Jose, CA 95119
As a Housing Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in helping individuals with developmental disabilities find, secure, and maintain housing that meets their unique needs. You’ll work closely with a supportive team of Housing Coordinators and guide clients through every step of the housing process: from intake and applications to move-in and long-term stability.
Your work will include: - Conducting client intakes and helping individuals identify appropriate housing options - Supporting applications for both temporary and long-term housing - Coordinating with families, service providers, property managers, and community partners - Helping clients understand lease agreements and their tenant rights - Tracking progress and outcomes using database tools
We’re seeking someone who is: - Empathetic, patient, and an excellent listener - Comfortable working with individuals with diverse communication and processing styles - Organized and able to balance multiple responsibilities - Passionate about housing justice and disability inclusion
Minimum Qualifications: - BA/BS (completed or in progress) or at least 2 years of relevant social services experience - Experience working with low-income individuals preferred - Bilingual in Spanish, Vietnamese, Mandarin, or Tagalog is a plus - Valid California driver’s license, insurance, and access to a personal vehicle - Ability to pass a DOJ background check - Knowledge of affordable housing and homelessness issues strongly valued
Position Details - Full-time (40 hours/week preferred) - Starting pay: $25.57/hour (those who are bilingual can get an additional rate) - Hybrid schedule (3 in-office / 2 remote) - Travel between office and residential locations required
