Job Description

The San José-Evergreen Community College District Foundation is seeking a Development Officer to play a key leadership role in advancing fundraising and donor engagement in support of students at San José City College and Evergreen Valley College. This full-time position offers a salary range of $121,719–$156,012, with excellent benefits including fully covered medical, dental, vision, and life insurance for employees and dependents, plus a 26.81% pension contribution through CalPERS. Employees also enjoy 22 vacation days, 12 sick days, and 20 paid holidays each year. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Development Officer will design and lead fundraising strategies to expand philanthropic support. Responsibilities include cultivating and stewarding individual, corporate, and foundation donors; managing scholarship and planned giving programs; leading grant development; overseeing campaigns and special events; and guiding marketing and communications to raise the Foundation’s visibility. The role also supervises staff, contractors, and volunteers who support advancement efforts. We are looking for a fundraising professional who brings creativity, initiative, and the ability to build strong relationships across a diverse community. The ideal candidate will have proven success in donor cultivation and solicitation, experience with campaigns and grants, and the ability to motivate teams toward ambitious fundraising goals. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution Minimum three years of progressive fundraising/development experience in a nonprofit setting At least two years of supervisory experience Strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills This is a 12-month, 40-hour-per-week position based at the District Office in downtown San José, with regular engagement across the two colleges and the broader community.
