Development Manager
Job Description
Fundraising & Donor Engagement Execute the annual fundraising plan in partnership with the Executive Director Manage individual giving, including cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship Lead digital and direct mail fundraising campaigns Support the planning and execution of fundraising events and community-based revenue activities Develop and implement donor stewardship strategies, including acknowledgements and impact reporting
Marketing and Communications Update social media to support campaigns, events, and impact stories Prepare and send a monthly e-newsletter Draft donor and community communications, including appeals and updates Help keep messaging consistent with the Executive Director and Communications Consultant Make basic updates to the website in Squarespace, such as event and content edits
Grants & Institutional Giving Research funding opportunities and manage a grants calendar Lead or support grant writing, submission, and reporting in partnership with the contract grant writer Collaborate with program staff to gather data, outcomes, and stories for proposals and reports
Systems & Reporting Maintain and optimize the donor database, ensuring data integrity and effective use for segmentation and reporting Track fundraising metrics and prepare regular reports for the Executive Director and Board of Directors Strengthen development systems, workflows, and documentation
Collaboration & Organizational Leadership Partner with program and admin teams to align fundraising with organizational priorities and impact Support Board engagement in fundraising and stewardship Contribute to a culture of philanthropy across the organization Bring creativity, flexibility, and a collaborative spirit to testing new ideas and strengthening long-term sustainability
Qualifications Excited and committed to working in a nonprofit, place-based organization Deep passion and commitment to advancing racial, economic and social justice in immigrant, working class and multi-generational communities 5 years minimum experience in fundraising and/or an industry with transferable skills and life experience Strong administrative skills and self-motivated with the ability to set priorities and manage multiple tasks under minimal supervision in effective and efficient manner Strong Google Workspace, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills Experience in managing databases, specifically for Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Effectively works with others Bilingual/biliterate Spanish-English or Vietnamese-English preferred but not required Background check required
Working Conditions Non-conventional mix of office and outdoor work environment requires affinity for interacting with visitors in a farm setting. Monday-Friday work week with occasional late evening and weekend work related to fundraising Physical demands described here are representative of what an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
